  • Delta Gymnastics Athlete Profile – Isabella Dougherty

The Delta Aspire Program is home to some of the club’s most dedicated and accomplished athletes.

Competing across the ALP Level 7–10, Developing International and Senior International divisions, these gymnasts train with the goal of representing their club, state and country at the highest levels of the sport. Their success is built on years of commitment, resilience, teamwork and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

At Delta, we believe it is not only what we do, but the way we do it. Our Core Values guide everything we do and help shape not only successful athletes, but exceptional young people. We are incredibly proud of the leaders within our Aspire Performance Program who bring these values to life each and every day, both inside and outside the gym.

As many of these athletes prepare to represent Queensland at the 2026 Australian Gymnastics Championships, we invite you to get to know them a little better.

Name: Isabella Dougherty
Age: 13
Level: 8
Years in Gymnastics: 7

What are you most looking forward to at Australian Championships?
Sharing this experience with my teammates and showing everyone what we’ve worked so hard for all year while wearing the Queensland colours.

Looking back, what are you most proud of in your gymnastics journey so far?
How I’ve kept going, even when things got tough. Every setback has made me stronger and more determined.

What’s your go-to post-training snack?
Fruit salad or a protein chocolate milk.

A goal you’re chasing right now?
Getting all my new upskills competition-ready for next season… without making it onto the stacks reel quite so many times!

What motivates you on the hard days?
Knowing that the hard days are often the ones that make the biggest difference. You can’t have rainbows without a little rain.

What has gymnastics taught you outside of the gym?
That reaching your goals doesn’t happen overnight. It takes patience, resilience and showing up, even when you don’t feel like it.

Something people might not know about you?
I have four siblings, so life at my house is never quiet!

What do you love most about Team Delta?
No matter what happens, everyone has each other’s back. We’re teammates, but we’re also like family.

What would your teammates say you’re famous for?
Always finding someone’s snacks.

Who has had the biggest impact on your gymnastics journey and why?
Both my mum and Lauren. Lauren has shaped me into the person I am today, both in and out of the gym, and has helped me pull it together when I’ve needed it most. My mum has been my rock through every high and low and is always there to help me pick up the missing pieces. She’s by my side when nobody else is.

One message for your fellow Delta teammates heading to Nationals?
Trust your training, believe in yourselves and enjoy every moment. You’ve worked so hard to get here—now let’s go out there and shine!
