  • Delta Ranked #1 in Australia!
Delta Aspire gymnasts have stolen the show at the 2016 National Clubs Carnival, cementing Delta’s number 1 position in the country!
Sixty Aspire gymnasts from our three Delta Clubs, travelled to Bendigo Victoria for two weeks of exciting competition and touring fun! With amazing results across 5 divisions, Delta Brisbane gymnasts shone on the competition floor.  With four 1st overall team  placings (Level 9/10; Level 8; Level 7 & Level 5) and one 3rd overall place (Level 6), the depth and determination of the Delta Brisbane team is evident in each and every performance.  What an amazing result from this inspirational group of gymnasts! Special mention to our Delta Brisbane Level 10 superstar Maddy Thompson.  In her first major competition in 16 months, Maddy placed 1st overall individually, creating history for Delta as the first WAG gymnast to win this event!  Great job Maddy! 2016 marked the first time all three Delta Clubs toured to the National Clubs Carnival.  The crowd of amazing Delta & Barron Valley supporters were on the edge of their seats as the sister teams came together to show what they are made of! This year, Delta Gold Coast took a junior team of level 5 & 6 gymnasts to the event.  In one of the challenges of the season, and the closest competition of the event the Delta Gold Coast Level 5 team won the silver medal, placing 2nd in Australia!  With the lead changing three times throughout the competition, Delta Gold Coast Level 5’s were the champion team on bars & beam and fought to the end for a 1-2 finish for Delta!  The Gold Coast Level 6’s also did themselves proud, placing 4th in Australia.  What an incredible competition for this junior team, with Delta Gold Coast placing 7th overall in Australia (contesting 2 of the 5 divisions). In their first National Clubs event, Barron Valley also brought a junior team of Level 5 & 6 gymnasts to the event.  Delta Aspire Program Manager, Chris Lakeman said the overall experience was invaluable for the girls, who should be extremely proud of their new national ranking of 18th overall.  The Barron Valley level 6’s placed a commendable 15th overall and our Level 5 team finished off the competition with a bang, finishing 8th overall (and just 0.7 from 1st place)! Outside of their amazing performances our Delta and Barron Valley teams had fun exploring Bendigo, shopping up a storm in Melbourne, picnicking at Hanging Rock and mining for gold at the Central Deborah Gold Mine.  Thank you to our incredible coaches and chaperones for supporting the girls on tour and helping make this one of our most successful tours to date. To all of our Aspire parents, supporting the girls in their gymnastics, in the stands and from home in Queensland, we thank you for all you do.  To our incredible team of coaches, congratulations on an amazing event and thank you too for nurturing and challenging the gymnasts to be the best they can be. Finally to our Delta Brisbane, Gold Coast and Barron Valley gymnasts – we hope you had a fantastic time in Bendigo!  From our Junior Teams starting out, to our amazing senior leaders, each of you has worked so hard and we are incredibly proud of your performances! Until 2017….
