In the jungle, the mighty jungle...

Our Jnr GymKids are moving & shaking jungle style all over the gym working on their rhythm, timing & coordination. We’ve put aside our handstands and cartwheels this program to focus on moving from A to B in all sorts of challenging fun ways! We do huge elephant stomps for bilateral coordination & hopscotch for sequencing; gorilla side steps & flamingo balances working our feet muscles.  We are getting our timing right for one foot take offs as we leap over snake ropes & hurdle like cheetahs. Locomotion is one of the fundamental movement patterns children need in all sports and reveals how well our brain and body wring is maturing to ‘motor plan’ effectively – not just on the field, court or in the gym, but in the class room as well. Stretching our giraffe necks up high has our legs & core squeezing tight. Creeping lions are great for our cross patterning & upper body strength, supporting our reading & writing. While our little ones are busy processing the world turning around them as rolling lions, our Groovers have been finishing in their angry cat shapes showing some great body awareness & maturing vestibular systems in action! What a way to move…. Read more about why we use themes in our Jnr GymKids Programs here!
