The Circus Comes to Delta!

Our Delta Brisbane level 9 and 10 gymnasts were lucky enough to have a visit from Stacy from Cirque Du Soleil last week! Stacy is the Chef – Dépistage acrobatique, Head of Acrobatic Casting & Talent Scout at Cirque Du Soleiel!  Stacy came to check out our senior gymnasts in action and to speak with our Level 9 & 10 gymnasts about opportunities, life after gymnastics and what Cirque Du Soliel is all about! Olympian, Lisa Skinner Pops In!

The same evening, Lisa Skinner, former Australian Olympic gymnast and Cirque Du Soliel performer for over 10 years, also dropped by! Lisa is one of the all time greats of Australian gymnastics, competing in three Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 & 2004, and four World Championships!  She was the first Australian gymnast to qualify for an individual event final at the Olympics and in the Sydney 2000 Games finished in 8th overall, the highest placement ever for an Australian gymnast! Lisa joined Cirque Du Soliel after retiring from gymnastics and has performed in three of their long-running shows around the world. Many of our Delta coaches remember Lisa well from when they were gymnasts and were thrilled with the opportunity to meet her, introduce her to their teams and show them what amazing work our Delta kids are doing. Lisa spent some time with our Aspire international gymnasts, no doubt giving them some great advice and inspiration! Thanks Lisa and Stacy - was so great to have you at Delta!!
