  • Junior GymKids Body Awareness Theme

Our Junior GymKids got a head start on the year during January through our first theme: BODY AWARENESS.

We got our under-fives started straight away on foundational body awareness by working on areas such as balance, switching muscles (proprioceptive sense), sensory integration, motor planning, laterality (our sides) and, of course, confidence and safety… fundamental to all of our themes.

That all sounds very technical, but that’s because it is! We apply a lot of science behind everything we do! Here are some of the bite-sized pieces our kids learned…

  1. MOTORBIKE SHAPE

Our MOTORBIKE SHAPE is the foundation for a safe landing. Requiring bendy knees and straight arms, this shape is absolutely crucial to learning, as it is the foundation for a safe landing. VROOM VROOM! 🏍️

  1. CLIMB AND HIGH-FIVE

Designed to coordinate your child’s “push and pull” strengths, our coaches place a firm hand on their backs so they can focus on movement in the arms and legs in a safe, encouraging environment. Now THAT’S worth high-fiving for! 🙏

  1. BUNNY JUMPS ON THE SPOT

We had our kids HOPPING back into the gym with bunny jumps too, which are so much more technical than just BOING BOING BOING! Developing body awareness at a young age actually wires up a child’s brain and body, which is critical to overall learning. <img loading=“>

Although we’ve always known it, science continues to reveal how healthy childhood development depends on rich movement experiences in our early preschool years. Why? Because movement is the power behind learning. And at Delta, helping kids grow up is our mission.
