  • Maddy Named Local Sports Star Finalist
Delta's Maddy Thompson is a Local Sports Star Finalist!  2018 has been a big year for Delta level 10 gymnast, Maddy.  As well as training 16 hours per week in the gym, becoming Level National Gymnastics Champion for the second consecutive year and having the honour of representing Australia; she's been busy completing year 12, representing her school in a number of co-curricular activities (she recently won the triple jump at the recent QGSSSA competition) and coaching our Delta Gym Kids at Kedron! After winning GOLD at the National Gymnastics Championships earlier this year, last month Maddy realised her dream of representing Australia, travelling with the Australian team to compete at the Trans Tasman Challenge in New Zealand.  Here Maddy finished her stellar gymnastics career with two gold (Team and Bars) and one silver (Individual All Around) medals! So it's not surprising to hear Maddy has been noticed by our local community. Maddy's success has regularly featured in the the Northside Chronicle and City North News and she was recently named a 2018 finalist in the Quest Locals Sports Stars Awards. Last week, Maddy was invited to attend the Local Sports Stars Awards Night, a hotly contested competition featuring some Brisbane's finest young athletes. The depth of local talent is quite incredible with Commonwealth Games medalists, Youth Olympians and Jnr World Champions across a multitude of sports all being nominated for the Local Sports Star Awards. Congratulations Maddy on being named runner up in Northside Chronicle/Bayside Star Sports Star division. Congratulations too to all of the winners on the evening - what an inspirational group!
