  • Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn Around!
This week we're getting ready for some Teddy Bear themed fun! This program is filled with lots of rotation and exploring rotation around different axis. We will be using lots of our favourite teddy bear rhymes to get our Jnr GymKids turning in different ways.

"Round and round the garden like a teddy bear..."

"Teddy bear, teddy bear turn around. Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground..."

We’ll be rolling around bars & changing our grip in a turning hang. We will do half turn jumps, backwards bear rolls (pushing our paws down hills) & will have fun cartwheeling on floor.  On beam we’ll be stepping through our turns and using a rhyme to help us through a little beam routine.

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn Around!

Rotation in many axis is so important to stimulate the vestibular system to help us process our balance and body awareness – it’s our number 1 sense for stability and integrating movement and learningThat’s why gymnastics is so good for kids -  we are always moving upside down and round & round! We are constantly working against or with gravity to stay in balance. It is our VESTIBULAR system (our balance system) which works together with our eyes and feedback from our muscles to tell us where we are in space and how to make our body move. When we are little our brains and bodies are busy working this system out (wiring it up). It affects not only all the amazing ways we move, but importantly how we are able to stay still, focus and pay attention. It affects learning and can even affect our emotional system. At Jnr GymKids we are about getting kids moving in very purposeful ways, to also get them to be still, happy, confident, focused kids - it doesn't just happen - but with lots & lots of round and round and round practice, and lots of fun, it will most definitely come.
Does anyone get the feeling that our Jnr GymKids are being exposed to such an amazing movement opportunity which will benefit each individual child and give them the confidence to try new things! Jnr GymKids play with purpose in every lesson. Keep your eye out for our upcoming themes for our under 5's
