As many of you know, there have been some changes over at our Southport venue over the last couple of weeks for our Delta Aspire gymnasts, with the girls now officially competing as Southport Gymnastics Club.
We recently advised that the new Southport Gymnastics Club Committee was in place on the Gold Coast. Following recent meetings between the Committee and the Gold Coast City Council, we have made some changes to the Club’s structure, enabling our Aspire gymnasts to represent Southport Gymnastics Club.
Delta will continue to play an important role with the Club – providing and managing coaching, curriculum and program delivery (on a fee basis from the Southport Gymnastics Club). This is similar to the current Delta–Barron Valley Gymnastics model in Cairns, which has seen our Cairns club receive wonderful support and government grants over the past 3 years!
We want to provide the best for our gymnasts and it seems this is the best way forward for our kids!
What does this mean to Gold Coast Aspire families?
- Our competitive gymnasts have been registered with Gymnastics Queensland as members of Southport Gymnastics Club.
- Gymnasts competing at Jnr Regionals, Jnr State Titles and National Clubs, will be announced at competition as Southport Gymnastics Club.
- Gymnasts and coaches will continue to wear Delta uniforms (this has been agreed with both Gymnastics Queensland and the Council).
- In 2018 we will introduce a Southport Competition Shirt to complement our uniform.
- Competitions, tours, dinners and all that is organised for the year will stay exactly as planned.
We expect that in the gym we will see very little difference to the way we operate today!
We do however foresee a greater involvement from the Committee and increased access to Government grants and support for the girls!
Watch this space and thank you for your ongoing support!
