We love this story Di, our Aspire Team Leader in BV shared about our amazing Aspire Competitive gymnasts in Cairns!  Talk about great role models, leading the way for our future gymnasts! During the week, there are some occasions where a couple of Aspire classes warm up together or do strength together.  On this particular day, I decided to team up each of our Aspire 16-20 gymnasts with an Aspire 12 hour/week gymnast. Each of the senior gymnasts was given the challenge to show and go through their handstand program with their 12 hour buddy.  They had to make sure it was challenging, but suitable, had to help spot them and give them feedback. I knew I could depend on these girls, however it was so refreshing to walk around and listen to the encouragement those gymnasts were giving their peers. Positive and constructive! I was able to remain quiet (I know wonders will never cease!)  I heard one of the senior gymnasts make the comment , "don’t worry it was hard for me at first too, you just have to keep trying".  Another said "one small step at a time Josie, you got it, it doesn’t matter how many" when working on their handstand walking activity. The smiles, the high 5’s, the sparkle in their eye and admiration those little girls showed the seniors simply made my day! Of course I made sure to recognise and congratulate the awesome 16-20 hr girls after warm up was complete and could see they felt proud to be such great leaders and role models! Great job Team BV!
