We know gymnastics is the perfect activity for preschoolers, as it works our entire body, from our finger grips, right down to the tips of our toes! In our next fun Jnr Gym Kids theme, our under 5’s will be finding their feet and focusing on their pointy toes. Pull out the fairy wands for our Fairies & Pixies theme!
In this super cute theme, we will be using our fairy wands to bring awareness to muscles and control in the feet, with lots of pointy toes while we jump, hang and balance. By allowing our Jnr Gym Kids to concentrate and focus on one little body part (hidden in lots of fun activities), we are really getting those fine motor skills and isolation skills developing.
Using our floaty, fairy wing scarves we will explore light, flowing movements & focus on our arm positions in jumps. We will leap & half turn in our fairy twirls and practice landing softly (shhhh… quiet as a pixie), encouraging controlled ankle & knee bends.
While we leap over the fairy rope, we will be practicing our one foot take off & landing and working on distance, speed & timing!
On the beam we will be balancing fairies as we try our tricky arabesque on one foot!
Our littlest Explorers will also practice mid-line crossing & work on hand eye coordination with a fun fairy wand balloon swatting activity (also a great tracking activity for little ones). We practice crossing the midline a lot in our program, reaching across the middle of our bodies and performing tasks. Crossing the midline is important in children’s development to manage every day tasks, including learning to write. Check out this great article on crossing the midline and some fun activities you can do at home!
We hope you enjoy moving with us in Fairies and Pixies!
