  • Keep Your Kids Active These Easter School Holidays
Term one is done and Easter is upon us already!  While Easter egg hunts and chocolate are a fun part of this season, holidays are also a great chance to keep your kids active and moving (and ensure they don’t spend too much time in front of a screen or eating chocolate!) Each year in Australia, studies show an increase in childhood obesity. If kids learn to be active early and enjoy movement and exercise now, it will stay with them throughout adulthood as well!

Top 5 Fun Ways to Keep Kids Active this Easter

So for this Easter Break, we have come up with five fun ways to keep your family active and moving, while making the most of the last of the warmer weather!

Hit the bike track

We are so lucky across Queensland to have some incredible bike paths suitable for children of all ages.  So pull out the bikes, scooters and helmets and make a morning of it (hopefully choose one with a nice coffee shop nearby for mum and dad!) For our Brissy families, Brisbane Kids have some great bike park suggestions here: Family Bike Rides

Catch me if you can!

What kid (and parent) doesn’t love a great game of backyard chase. With all the running, dodging and changes in direction, it is also fantastic for developing agility!

Head to the Beach

Pack up for a day trip to the beach while the weather is still warm. Set up a beach volleyball game or challenge the family in beach cricket. Practice your cartwheels in the sand, catch some waves or go for a long walk. Serious fun and a full body workout guaranteed!

Go Skating!

Work on your balance, while having a blast at the local ice or roller skate rink! BYO skates or hire them there and relive your childhood as you skate and play with your children for a few active hours!

Easter Egg Hunt

The bunny will no doubt leave eggs to be found! Climbing, crawling, running & hunting - all this activity means you can enjoy the hunt and some chocolate too, knowing your kids have been moving and keeping fit as well!

Delta Gymnastics classes run throughout the school holiday, breaking only for the Easter Public Holidays. Keeping up your regular activity is not only great to stick with the routine (which we know kids love), but also great to get out of the house and keep little bodies moving! Happy (active) Easter!
