Recently Delta Brisbane trialed our first Parent Coach Meetings for Aspire 7.5 and above gymnasts. Like a school parent-teacher interview, the meetings were a chance for parents, gymnasts and coaches to get together for a progress update; to chat, discuss their child's gymnastics training and importantly, to make sure everyone is on the same page!
There is a well-regarded model for child sporting development that articulates we will only be successful when we focus on
and we align the support of the parents, coach, sports science/medicine professionals and education. Our meetings with our Delta parents were established with this in mind - we want each and every child in our program to be the best they can be and feel successful in what they do!
Our first round of parent coach meetings were held over four afternoons/evenings. Parents and gymnasts attended together with their coach and had the opportunity to discuss physical development (
testing results); skill development and goals; and training styles and behaviour. Coaches gave some focus points for the girls to really work on over the coming months and parents and gymnasts were also encouraged to ask questions and share any comments they may have with the coaches.
Being the first time we have held official Parent Coach meetings it was wonderful to receive feedback from the parents and great to see so many of our Delta families come along and spend the time with their gymnast's coach. Feel free to
if you would like to share your experience, good or bad as we are always striving to improve and welcome feedback.
Stay tuned for our next round of parent coach meeting evenings as we begin to roll this out to our Delta families.
