Don’t Wish for it, work for it!
Our Southport Aspire gymnasts are working hard following competition season, preparing themselves for 2018!
We have started a new strength and conditioning program with the gymnasts this month. When starting a new program its very normal for the girls to feel sore and tight. It is also very important the girls roll out and stretch before training to help with these muscle aches!
Please keep in mind, if your gymnast is extremely sore, they need to chat to their coaches and let them know communicate with the coaches so we are aware of what is happening and can decide if we need to modify their program.
As you may recall from our last update, we have had a push on strength and conditioning, post competition season. Strength and conditioning are such an important part of training in gymnastics – without it, it’s almost impossible to perform skills safely and with good technique. I am very proud of how much improvement our Aspire gymnasts showed at the final PAD test for 2017!
We like to change our strength and conditioning programs every 6 to 8 weeks as the gymnasts bodies get used to it and they start finding it to easy – we don’t want that!!! It is great to see our gymnasts up for the challenge and working hard to see their results!
Happy training!
See you in the gym,
Kim!
